Luther Grant Kirk

Luther Grant Kirk (L.G)  83, of Ragland, WV formally of Chattaroy WV went to his heavenly home on Sunday December 31, 2023 after a lingering illness.

He was born on September 18, 1940 in Goodman, WV to the late George and Mary Kirk.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother George (Duke) Kirk, mother and father in law, Lucy and Claude (Brownie) Bowens, brother in law Hubert (cricket) Bowens, Brother in law Robert Horton and sister in law Lisa Bowens.

He attended Chattaroy High School, after school he went to work in several different coal mines in which he become disabled on Nov 16, 1988 in a mining accident for the Farley Brothers. Later in the years LG became involved in many things in his community from fixing lawnmowers to volunteering over 25 years to the Williamson Field House concession stand, where he was known for his amazing popcorn. Luther gave his life to the lord Oct. 5, 2020 at the age of 80 at the Victory Christian Center in Lenore, WV.

Those left to cherish all his wonderful memories include his wife of 52 and a half years Wilma (Tootsie) Kirk, Children; Amy Kirk (Ronnie) of Lavallette, Luther (Charlie Brown) (Misty) Kirk of Dunbar, Michael (Taylor) McNeese of Chattaroy and Jennifer Kirk of Chattaroy WV who was his caretaker along with his special buddy Joey Carey who also cared for him. Luther is survived by 10 grandchildren, 2 of whom his world revolved around MaHailey Kirk, and Jaxson Carey, 11 great grandchildren, 2 sisters Bonnie (Jim Bob) Francis and Debra Horton, Brother in law Claude (Peanut) Bowens, pet companion Levi, and MaHailey’s boyfriend Ethan Colegrove. The family wants to give a special thanks to his buddies on the second floor at ARH; Chris Davis, Bree Hayes, Megan Kirk, Morgan Widel, Ethan Webb, Abrianna Brewer, Jennifer Hatfield. (ICU) Misty Mccoy, Dr. Abbas, Dr. Beckett, Landina Fields NP at the Williamson Health and Welness.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 2 2024 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at the Colegrove Funeral Home Chapel.

Service will be held Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at 1:00pm at the Colegrove Funeral Home Chapel with Terry Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow in the Bowens Cemetery in Chattaroy WV. He will be carried to his final resting place by friends and family.
